Can't Wait To Walk Down The Aisle are image parodies of the for the phrase "can't wait to walk down the aisle" which is usually associated with getting married. The image parodies became popular during the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020 and used images of various aisles in public spaces rather than a church aisle.

Origin

On April 28th, 2020, Twitter user @TebbuttAlina[1] posted a picture of inside an airplane with the caption, "Can’t wait to walk down the aisle" (shown below). The tweet garnered over 302,500 likes and 83,600 retweets in nine days.

Spread

On April 29th, 2020, Twitter user @Chloejayne_xxx[2] shared a screenshot from a Facebook post of the original meme next to a screenshot of texts from her mother with the caption, "So I shared a post on Facebook saying “can’t wait to walk down the aisle”. Meaning the plane aisle. And absolutely bless me mum, messaging me thinking my boyfriend proposed to me HAHAHAHAH. Can’t cope" (shown below, left). On May 3rd, Twitter user @JIBBlTZ[3] shared an image of a clothing store aisle using the phrase and received over 214,200 likes and 46,700 retweets in four days (shown below, right).

The next day, Twitter user @sara_davidson[4] shared an image of a scented candle aisle in a store with the caption, "Can’t wait to walk down the aisle" which garnered over 102,800 likes in a day (shown below).
