Can You Name All 22 Democrats Running for President refers to a tweet by author Morgan Jerkins challenging Twitter users to name all the Democrats running for president in the 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary. In response, Twitter users wrote parody lists of the crowded Democratic field.

On May 14th, 2019, @MorganJerkins tweeted "Can YOU name all 22 democrats running for President?"[1] The tweet gained over 500 likes (shown below). Of note, the tweet came a day prior to Bill de Blasio formally announcing his candidacy, which made the field 23 candidates.

Spread

Twitter users were quick to make parody lists of the Democratic field. Twitter user @DavidDTSS[2] tweeted lyrics from the DMX song "What These Bitches Want," gaining over 1,900 retweets and 3,900 likes (shown below, left). User @JessicaHuseman tweeted the lyrics to "Mambo No. 5," gaining over 100 retweets and 900 likes (shown below, right).


Other users posted lists from pop culture. For example, @jrlind tweeted several professional wrestlers, gaining over 100 likes (shown below, left). User @Asteadwesley tweeted what started as a list of the candidates before it turned into a list of the cast of Teletubbies, gaining over 30 retweets and 400 likes (shown below, right). Jokes from the tweet were covered by Mashable.[2]
