About
Can I Get A Small Shake? is a TikTok trend that uses an audio snippet of someone asking for "just a lil shake" implying that they want a milkshake but typically receiving the opposite outcome of the "Shake Ya Booty" trend, with the person taking the order proceeding to shake or spin around and shake their butt. The format initially came out at the same time as Shake Ya Booty but was popularized in late 2022 as the initial trend was forgotten, allowing the variation to feel fresh and original.
Origin
On June 21st, 2021, the TikToker Julienyork[1] uploaded a TikTok in which he pretended to be a Chick-Fil-A worker taking an order. When the person orders a shake, presumably as part of the setup to a Shake Ya Booty joke, the person taking the order responds by saying yes and shaking their entire body as they repeat their opening line. The video received over 1,100 likes in 18 months while showing a way to subvert the expected punchline (shown below).
Spread
On November 30th, 2022, the official Barstool Sports[2] TikTok account uploaded a newly updated version of the meme in which the person taking the order proceeds to turn around and give the customer a little shake in a physical sense, to which they responded that it wasn't what they originally intended, earning over 2 million likes in one month (shown below).
On December 4th, 2022, TikToker McDonaldsDissen420[3] uploaded a version in which the person orders a small shake, and upon receiving their shake from the employee, is satisfied and says that they don't need anything else, earning over 300 likes in one month and showing a new variation on the format (shown below).
