The Calling Friends to Say Goodnight Prank is a prank in which someone, often an adult man, calls one or multiple friends to tell them "goodnight" and "sweet dreams" as another person films their reaction to the call. The prank was popularized on TikTok in May 2025 and is often performed by husbands and their wives.

Origin

On May 4th, 2025, TikToker[1] @supremeralph23 posted a video in which he is filmed calling several friends and telling them "goodnight" and "sweet dreams," garnering over 74,000 views in roughly two weeks. This is the earliest known version of the prank.


On May 6th, the same TikToker[2] posted a second part to the video, in which he calls more friends and tells them "goodnight," garnering over 940,000 views in two weeks.

On May 7th, 2025, he then posted a third version of the video to TikTok,[3] garnering over 1.3 million views in the same span of time.

The prank became increasingly popularized on TikTok throughout May 2025. On May 14th, 2025, TikToker[4] @caitlynvalencia25 posted a video of her husband doing the prank on a few friends, garnering over 676,000 views in six days.


On May 17th, TikToker[5] @mirandafaye01 posted a video of her husband calling a few friends to tell them "goodnight," resulting in a few different reactions of both concern and amusement, garnering over 2.6 million views in three days.


On May 18th, 2025, TikToker [6] @brittanyydianee_ posted a video of her husband doing the prank on his friends that garnered over 9.9 million views in two days.
