About
But This Is Tremendous Content refers to a snowclone spawned by a tweet by sports business analyst and former ESPN correspondent Darren Rovell during the 2016 United States Presidential Election that read "I feel bad for our country. But this is tremendous content."
Origin
On October 19th, 2016, Darren Rovell[1] tweeted, "I feel bad for our country. But this is tremendous content," implying that while the country was being negatively affected by the ongoing presidential election, it made for good stories. The tweet gained over 2,200 retweets and 5,000 likes (shown below).
Spread
The tweet was instantly mocked online. Deadspin[2] wrote, "(Rovell) will never put anything that more purely distills his essence online again." User @summerbrennan tweeted "This is the way the world end. Not with a bang but with 'tremendous content,'" gaining over 220 retweets and 460 likes (shown below, left). @DAlgonquin joked that the tweet would have been Rovell's take following 9/11 (shown below, right).
In the following years, the tweet became a snowclone with which people used to joke about unfortunate situations, particularly with regards to sports. For example, in May of 2018, @clubtrillion used it while discussing baseball's Cincinnati Reds (shown below, left). In November of 2018, Twitter user and Ringer writer @PaoloUggeti made a tweet about NBA star Carmelo Anthony (shown below, right).
