Bust Down Thotiana Challenge is a dance challenge in which people film themselves dancing to the song "Thotiana" by American rapper Blueface.
Origin
On February 2nd, 2018, Cash Money Records released "Thotiana" as a single from Blueface's second mixtape, Famous Cryp. [1] On January 25th, 2019, Lyrical Lemonade uploaded the "Thotiana" music video entitled "Blueface – Thotiana Remix ft. YG (Dir. by @_ColeBennett_)." The video gained over 11 million views and 305,000 likes in a few weeks (shown below). In the video Blueface is shown using a specific dance which has been repeated throughout many parodies.
Spread
On July 12th, 2018, J Gusto uploaded a video of to YouTube of a woman dancing to "Thotiana." The video gained over 153,000 views and 1,100 likes within two years (shown below, left). On November 24th, Lit Challenges uploaded the first compilation video of the Bust Down Thotiana Challenge.
On January, 28th, 2019, All Urban Central uploaded a video of Blueface showing DJ Akademiks how to do the "Bust Down." The video gained 121,000 views and 1000 likes in a week (shown below).
Throughout January and February, the Bust Down Thotiana Challenge migrated to Twitter and TikTok (shown below). Variations included parodies of Blueface's "Bust Down" dance.

On January 15th, Blanca lys Rivera uploaded the first TikTok parody (shown below, left). The video accumulated over 900 views in a month. Many TikTok users made a duet with TikTok user Truwy's interpretive dance parody (shown below, right).
Blueface Teaching Obama
On February 18th, 2020, Blueface posted to Instagram a video in which he teaches an the Obama impersonator Reggie Brown[2] how to dance to "Thotiana" (shown below). The video gained over 1.5 million views in a day.
That day, Twitter user @RapAllStars reposted the video with the caption "Blueface tried to teach Barack Obama how to hit the Thotiana dance Face with tears of joy" (shown below). The video which fooled many Twitter users into think it was actually Barack Obama in the video garnered over 142,100 likes and 32,300 retweets in a day. The Daily Dot[3] published an article on the video.
