About

Bucky is an anthropomorphic green-skinned character which gained brief popularity on /v/ board of 4chan in March 2019. Following its creation, the character and its redrawn variations appeared in multiple threads on /v/ board, mostly used as reaction images.

Origin

Before the following events, the character appeared on the youtube channel of a man named xamps.
He did not originate on 4chan.
On March 5th, 2019, an anonymous 4chan user posted an image of a green creature with protruding eyes and a blue mug in its hand as a response to /v/ board thread.[1] Within an hour, an anonymous 4chan user posted the image in a thread titled "Made this guy",[2] with several redrawn variations of the character appearing in reply posts.[3][4] In the same thread, an anonymous user named the character "Bucky".[5]

Spread

In the same thread, several subterms related to the character were coined, including "Zompes", later used to refer to "followers of Bucky",[6] and "Yucky", used to refer to "Bucky's evil twin" and those who disliked the character.[7]

In the same thread, several users speculated whether Bucky was created by Discord users.[8][9]
The β€œZompes” decided bucky was a god of a religion or that he was an alien who will destroy humanity.

In the following weeks, images of the character appeared in multiple threads posted on /v/ board, with few examples also appearing on /b/,[10] /pol/,[11] /tv/[12] and other 4chan boards. Several notable threads featuring the character appeared in early March 2019,[13][14] with the popularity of Bucky rapidly declining within the next weeks.

Bucky gained slight interest during E3, but died in a fatal car crash and was unable to live for much longer, as he had a heart attack and fucking died oh god oh fuck his blood is everywhere its so sticky i think i see some bone sticking out oh god why the humanity.
