BTS's Jungkook's Runway Walk refers to a series of reaction videos that use a clip of Jungkook, a member of the K-Pop group BTS, walking down a long narrow stage during a performance. Online, people have used the remixed the clip, adding the Beyoncé song "Partition" to the soundtrack as well as captions that feature jokes about having confidence.

Origin

On December 14th, 2018, BTS performed at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong. During the performance of the song "Airplane Pt. 2," Jungkook walked the onstage runway in the style of a runway model.



Following the performance, Twitter [1] user @ggukreum tweeted a short clip of the walk, replacing the soundtrack from the performance with the Beyoncé song "Partition." They captioned the tweet, "over there i swear i saw them cameras flash." The post received more than 31,000 retweets, 63,000 likes and 14 million views in one month (shown below).

That day, people began sharing @ggukreum's video and adding new captions. For example, Twitter[2] @cultkoo tweeted the clip with the caption "me walking up to the mcdonald’s counter when my order number is called." The tweet received more than 14,000 retweets and 31,000 likes in one month (shown below).


Others posted videos that they claimed resembled Jungkook's walk. Twitter[7] user @ask_bts_stuff tweetd a video of a cat walking and the caption, "Thats jungkook during the airplane pt2 intro." The tweet received more than 2,100 retweets and 5,800 likes in one month (shown below).


Several media outlets covered the meme, including TIME,[3] Teen Vogue,[4] Elite Daily[5] and more.

On December 18th, Redditor [6] Ayllkorena posted about the meme in the /r/bangtan subreddit.
