Bruzz is an AAVE slang term that's a different way of pronouncing "Bros" as in a man's male friends. Bruzz is a variant of the slang term Huzz which means "Hoes." Both trended on TikTok in late 2024, alongside other AAVE terms turned Brainrot slang like Fine Shyt. Despite its popularity in 2024, an Urban Dictionary definition for Bruzz was created in 2008.
Origin
On July 11th, 2008, Urban Dictionary[1] user see;why;enn;dee;eye shared a definition for the word "Bruzz," meaning, "A really cool word that is used to talk to your friends." As an example, the user wrote, "Hey bruzz, how are youuuu." Over 16 years, the definition received 27 likes (shown below).
Spread
Years later, on September 20th, 2024, the usage of Bruzz went viral in memes when TikToker[2] @wahbandz shared a video of a man in a bathroom dubbed, "Mr. Do Anything For The Huzz." In the video's description, the TikToker wrote, "Big plot twist, He’s one of the bruzz and not Mr. Do Anything To Impress The Huzz." The video received over 547,600 plays and 40,800 likes in two months and earned top comments that echoed the word "bruzz."
On September 21st, TikToker[3] @mardb4057 shared a similar video showing the same guy in a bathroom, writing in text overlay, "The bruzz ain't even noticing bro." Over two months, the video gained roughly 179,100 plays and 5,000 likes (shown below).
Bruzz gained more viral usage in November 2024. For instance, on November 10th, TikToker[4] @tuffcritters posted a Papyrus Irony and Freaky 👅 video with text reading, "Me and the bruzz when we detect fine shyt 👅," amassing over 2.7 million plays and 539,900 likes in three days (shown below).
The abovementioned video's comment section included multiple top comments that cited it as the creation of the term Bruzz. For instance, TikToker @thomas087 wrote, "Proud to say I witnessed the creation of the term bruzz," gaining over 46,700 likes in a day (shown below).
In the following days, others on TikTok posted videos that joked about witnessing the creation of Bruzz. For instance, on November 12th, 2024, TikToker[5] @m0blackmad shared a photo with text overlay reading, "How it felt to witness the creation of the word 'bruzz' in real time," captioning a painting of revolutionary men discussing something. In a day, the photo gained roughly 1 million plays and 265,200 likes (shown below).
