Origin

On August 23rd, 2018, iFunny user FunnyInternetMan uploaded an image of Annoyed Picard captioned "Bro! You just posted cringe! You are going to loose subscriber" to the platform.^[1] The post gained over 3,300 likes and 950 reposts in nine months.

Spread

On October 10th, 2018, YouTuber apandah used the image as a reaction to a post by Twitter user @_royalkayy.^[2] The tweet gained 5 retweets and 95 likes in six months. Later on the same day, @_apandah_ used the image to reply to another post, this time receiving 20 retweets and 560 likes in six months.^[3] In the following days, multiple Twitter users used the image as a reaction.^[4][5] On October 15th, 2018, Redditor LordBlyat posted the image to /r/bruhmoment subreddit, with the post gaining 34 upvotes in six months.^[6]

In the following months, the image was circulated on various online platforms as an ironic response to cringeworthy content. Additionally, more image macros containing the catchphrase were created by users on iFunny, Twitter, Reddit and other platforms.
