Origin

On April 17th, 2017, British Prime Minister Theresa May announced that they would hold a snap election. That day, BBC News published a video on YouTube entitled "General Election: 'You're joking – not another one!'" Within three years, the video received more than 310,000 views (shown below).

In the video, she says, "You're joking!, Not another one! Oh for god's sake, I can't stand this, there is too much politics going on, why does she need to call one?"

Spread

Following the release of the video, people began posting remixes of the line on YouTube. For examples, on April 26th, YouTuber ParPol Bro shared a variation that originally aired on the Partly Political Broadcast podcast. The post received more than 5,000 views in less than three years (shown below, left).

Brenda's reaction

After the video had gone viral, reporter Jon Kay interviewed Brenda and posted the video on Twitter, which showed Brenda reacting to some of the memes and viral remixes that were shared online (shown below).

Go Away!

Go Away! was another memorable quote said by Brenda after she was confronted by journalists from the British newspaper tabloid The Daily Mail who shouted at them to go away.
