About

Brat Billboard Parodies refers to Photoshop edits and memes of billboards and posters promoting Charli XCX's album "Brat." The billboards started to appear all over the world in late September 2024 as an easter egg hunt for fans of the singer to discover the many featured artists' names written backwards. The billboards were used as exploitable by netizens, who added the names of singers they'd like to listen to in the remix album or replaced the texts with comedic edits.

Origin

On September 30th, 2024, X[1] page @xcxsource posted a picture of an alleged "Brat" billboard reading "bon river" backwards (seen below), which amassed more than 2,700 likes and 368 reposts in four days. On the same day, several other "Brat" billboards were spotted across the world as part of a marketing strategy for Charli XCX's upcoming remix album.

Spread

Netizens started to photoshop fake versions of the "Brat" billboards over the following days, mainly adding the names of singers they'd like to see featured in Charli XCX's remix album. For example, on September 30th, 2024, X[2] user @ToveLo_Daily posted a "Brat" billboard featuring Tove Lo's name written backward (seen below), which amassed roughly 10,000 likes and 522 reposts in four days.
