On November 12th, 2025, the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie premiered, including on the Nintendo of America YouTube[1] channel, garnering over 3.5 million views in a day. At the 0:52 timestamp, Bowser, shrunken, shows Mario and Luigi a painting that he made of himself with exaggerated muscles (a six-pack) and height standing next to a swooning Princess Peach. Luigi compliments the use of color, while Mario calls the painting "trash."



A screengrab of Bowser showing off his painting started spreading online shortly after the trailer premiered. One early example is a post by X[2] user @SuperMarioOOC85 that same day, captioned, "Dawg 😭😭😭😭," garnering over 47,000 likes and 4,000 reposts in a day.

The image of Bowser showing off his painting continued to spread over the following days in mid-November 2025, inspiring memes and reactions.

On November 12th, 2025, Redditor Tindo_Blends posted a blank meme template edit of the image to the /r/Mario[3] subreddit that removes the contents of the painting, garnering over 400 upvotes in a day.

Shortly after, X[4] user @OrangePlayzz_ reposted the image, writing, "They made it canon that bowser is a furry bara artist," garnering over 3,300 likes in a day.

Around two hours later, X[5] user @ZackScott, known for his Elephant Daisy commissions, posted the image, writing, "I wish I could commission Bowser! He's a great artist!" garnering over 68,000 likes in a day.



About an hour later, on November 12th, 2025, Redditor Super64111111 posted a meme based on the scene to the /r/memes[6] subreddit that references the Bold and Brash painting created by Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants, garnering over 12,000 upvotes in a day.



Later that day, X[7] user @Nick_Peppermint posted an edit that replaces Peach with Luigi, referencing the Bowuigi ship, garnering over 29,000 likes in a day. The artist also posted it to Tumblr,[8] where it gained over 600 notes in the same span of time.



Also on November 12th, Redditor GodNonon posted another version of the art referencing Bold and Brash, this time replacing Bowser's painting with the original Bold and Brash painting, to the /r/Mario[9] subreddit, gaining over 2,000 upvotes in a day.

Shortly after, X[10] user @Tudduls posted an edit of the painting in which Peach's breasts have been enlarged, garnering over 1,500 likes in a day.

That night, X[11] user @radraddles posted an edit of the meme that replaces Peach with VTuber Chibidoki and the VTuber's request, garnering over 31,000 likes and 1,600 reposts in a day.
