Bouncy Egg Challenge refers a series of TikTok videos in which users place an egg in a sock and then twirl the sock around until the egg is able to bounce.
Origin
On February 11th, 2019 @Emily Vu uploaded themself singing J Boog's "Lets Do It Again" which has been used in the majority of the egg bounce challenge videos. The cover gained 1.2 million views and 70,700 shares in two months (shown below, left). Although the earliest TikTok bouncy egg challenge video is unknown one of the earliest videos was uploaded on March 3rd by user @lil4ate whose video gained over 614,000 likes and 27,800 shares (shown below, right).
Spread
Many TikTok users attempted the challenge. The hashtag #bouncyeggchallenge gained over 4.3 million views in two months. On March 23rd, 2019 User Poupyscoupy uploaded a video of the sock trick working which gained over 173,500 likes (shown below, left). May TikTok users like candmusic uploaded videos in which their attempt to make the egg bounce failed (shown below, center). Candmusic uploaded the video on March 24th and gained 463,000 likes in a month. On April 4th, fuggeboy uploaded a comedic version in which they use a string to float the egg (shown below, right). The video gained over 40,300 likes
Amazon[1] and other retailers sell bouncy eggs (shown below, left). Some also believe the trick can be performed with egg colored beauty blenders (shown below, right)
