Bornana or I Can Make Orange Rhyme With Banana refers to a string of lyrics from Eminem's song "Tone Deaf" where he raps that he can make "orange" rhyme with "banana," then says "bornana." The song was released in December 2020 and the lyrics became the subject of memes including video edits over the following years.

Origin

On October 10th, 2010, Eminem appeared on 60 Minutes[1] where he talked about how there are a lot of words that rhyme with orange despite what people might think. In December 2016, the Genius YouTube[2] channel published a video mixing the 60 Minutes clip with a variety of examples of Eminem rhyming words with orange, gaining over 16 million views in six years (shown below).

On December 18th, 2020, Eminem released the song "Tone Deaf." In one part of the song, he raps, "Bitch I can make orange rhyme with banana (yeah) bornana." The lyric video for the song was released to YouTube[3] on March 5th, 2021, featuring a scene where a cartoon Eminem sits on a bench as an orange and banana fly by the screen (shown below).

On September 19th, 2021, Instagram[4] page mensallectuals followed a Genius lyric card featuring the lyrics, followed by Instagram[5] page geniuslyricswithoutcontext the next day, gaining over 35,500 likes in seven months (shown below). The image received viral spread through reposts.

On January 11th, 2022, Facebook[6] page Diddy Kong pointing at an unknown object with his hat on backward posted another lyric card with the lyrics, gaining over 1,500 reactions and 700 shares in two months. On January 23rd, YouTuber kringefest posted a video using the lyrics showing an image of a hybrid orange banana, gaining over 115,000 views in two months (shown below, left). On January 26th, YouTuber JakeTheSnake200 posted a video playing a level of The Impossible Game set to the audio clip, gaining over 1.4 million views in a similar span of time (shown below, right).

On January 31st, Instagram[7] user matthew.niverse posted a When I'm In A Competition video meme using the lyric video, gaining over 147,000 views in two months (shown below).

On April 1st, YouTuber Lessons In Meme Culture posted a video about the meme, gaining over 133,000 views in under a day (shown below).
