In the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Beta build 12759, new loading screen were implemented for each continent in the game, the Northrend loading screen once showed the old Lich King, Arthas Menethil, http://www.wowwiki.com/Arthas but now shows the new Lich King that became as such after the expansion, Bolvar Fordragon. http://www.wowwiki.com/Bolvar
When the MMO-Champion forums saw this image, someone decided it would be funny to start a thread dedicated to captioning Bolvar is his strange pose, it began with just captions, but eventually turned into photoshops. This meme is also rather popular on 4chans /v/.
