About

Blue Tie Kid, also known as the TikTok Rizz Party Leader, is a nickname given to a teenage boy who appears in a series of TikTok Rizz Party 'Carnival' boys videos at a sweet 16 party. Blue Tie Kid is considered the leader of the group of teens, which was later revealed to be 16-year-old Sebastian Sarmiento, whose TikTok account was @seby_261.The meme is part of the TikTok Rizz Party series lore that also features Turkish Quandale Dingle, another teen who was at the party and received a nickname about the meme character Quandale Dingle. Videos about the teen started to go viral in mid-March 2024, with lore and ironic meme content about him being popularized in early April of that year.

Origin

The "Blue Tie Kid" teen first appeared online on March 10th, 2024, being featured in a video posted by @islandentertainment[1], which shows the 16-year-old wearing a blue tie in the center of a group of boys at "Jillian’s sweet 16" dancing and singing to the song "Carnival" by Kanye West, featuring Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti. The video received roughly 52 million plays and 7 million likes in almost a month (shown below, left).

In another video posted by @islandentertainment[2] on March 17th, the "Blue Tie Kid" also takes center stage by singing and dancing alongside his friends, especially Turkish Quandale Dingle. The video (shown below, right) received more than 17 million plays and 1.5 million likes in almost a month.

The videos sparked several memes and ironic fandom edits referring to the party as the "TikTok Rizz Party," based on a prior meme from mid-2023 about a series of posters advertising a party of the same name.

While it's unclear who first called the teenager "Blue Tie Kid," the earliest known example of the nickname being mentioned was a few comments in @spazzgonwildd's video, which was making fun of the teens. User @jalenbrownoffical[3] commented on the post (shown below, top) saying "Blue tie in every clip" on March 24th, which garnered over 6,500 likes and, on the same video, user @quanchiseled commented that "Blue tie the group leader," amassing roughly 1,900 likes in two weeks. (shown below, bottom).

Spread

Memes and videos referring to the teenager as the "blue tie kid" and the group leader of the "TikTok Rizz Party" became exponentially more popularized in early April 2024. For example, on April 4th, 2024, TikTok[4] user @jjitcrazy found an old video of the "Blue Tie Kid," creating a fan edit titled "Mr.Blue Tie Origin Story." The post (shown below, left) amassed more than 280,000 plays and 46,000 likes in a day.

On the same day, TikTok[5] user @moe.amp posted an edit titled "Blue Tie Kid versus Turkish Quandale Dingle," which amassed more than 19,900 likes in a day.

Blue Tie Kid's Identity and Response To The Memes

On March 22nd, 2024, the Blue Tie Kid posted a video revealing his identity as a 16-year-old named Sebastian Sarmiento, which received over 2.6 million plays and 137,500 likes in 10 days before his account was banned, likely due to mass reporting from trolls and spammers.

On April 4th, he started posting to a new account, @seby_261, with the first video being a duet to a meme about him and his friends. The post amassed over 2.2 million plays and 124,000 likes in a day (shown below).
