Blanket Life refers to a series of TikTok videos featuring TikTokers running through the house wearing a blanket as a cap for a variety of reasons to the piece "Flight of the Bumblebee" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The trend began in April 2020 and often referred to staying inside due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Origin
On April 4th, 2020, TikToker @jackmanthous uploaded a video of himself running through the house with a blanket on comparing it to clips from Cinderella with the caption, "When my depression blanket trails behind me on my way to the fridge #werkitfromhome" (shown below). The video gained over 448,600 likes in six days.
Spread
On April 5th, 2020, TikToker @chaysedepalmaa uploaded a blanket life video captioned "me leaving my room for the first time in 48 hours to get shredded cheese" (shown below, left). The video garnered over 204,600 likes in five days. The next day, TikToker @meganlynnpierson used the format to illustrate grabbing a dog to bring back to her room and received over 421,700 likes in four days (shown below, center). On April 7th, TikToker @pleaseletmetouchyoursock uploaded another variation which accumulated over 2.2 million likes in three days (shown below, right). StayHipp[1] published an article on the trend.
