Blade Security Guard refers to a viral photo of an Alabama security guard, named Harold L. Davis, wearing a black trench coat with a sword holstered in his belt. The exploitable image went viral in November 2021 as people compared him to the superhero Blade (played by Wesley Snipes), inspiring numerous viral posts referring to him as "Blade at home" or "Blade's cousin" and photoshopping him into new scenarios in memes.

Origin

On November 15th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @DetectiveDrip_ posted a photograph of a security guard wearing a black leather trench coat, holding a gun and with a sword in his belt, writing, "This the most securing guard I’ve ever see," garnering over 321,500 likes in two years (shown below).

That day, a user of the ar15 forums[2] posted the image of the security guard, sharing his Thumbtack[3] page, which reveals that his name is Harold A. Davis, a security guard working in Alabama for AGASTS, LLC (Armed Guardian Angel Secure Transportation Services), who also notably refers to himself as "Agent Wolf." Spread

The image gained viral spread over the following days. On November 15th, 2021, the image was posted to Reddit's /r/BlackPeopleTwitter,[4] garnering over 6,400 upvotes in two years. It was also reposted by Twitter[5] user @henny_papi_will, writing, "Blade uncle, Scissors out here wylin'," garnering over 2,800 likes in the same span of time. That same day, Redditor u/ichinnyace posted the image to /r/photoshopbattles,[6] garnering over 290 upvotes and resulting in numerous photoshops of the image (examples shown below).

On November 15th, a Redditor posted a video of Agent Wolf drawing his blade to /r/PublicFreakout,[7] garnering over 900 upvotes in two years. On November 16th, the photo was posted to /r/WTF,[8] garnering over 15,000 upvotes in two years. On December 4th, Twitter[9] user @DetectiveDrip_ posted another video of Wolf showing off his weapons, garnering over 201,000 likes in two years (reupload shown below). It was posted to /r/PublicFreakout[10] that same day, garnering over 5,400 upvotes in two years.
