Bill Collector refers to a trend on TikTok where users added the "bill collector" caption placed over videos of dogs as if they are being charged for a debt by someone. The trend was popularized in August 2023 and is also part of the Zawg and Schlawg, which uses Don Pollo's audios for shitpost content on the video platform.

Origin

One of the earliest videos of the "bill collector" trend was posted on June 16th, 2023, by TikTok^[1] user @oreobickinton, in which he shows a dog looking outside his home under the caption "coleslawg shivering about the bill collector and several animated GIFS cluttering the screen. The post also uses an audio from the TikToker Don Pollo, also known as King of Ohio, in which he screams "SALAMALECO SALA," which amassed more than 777,000 plays and 110,000 likes in eight months.

The "bill collector" trend got expressively more popular in August 2023, as users on TikTok remixed Don Pollo's funny audio with captions over videos of dogs and other animals being threatened by someone to pay their bills. For example, on August 9th, 2023, TikTok^[2] user @xharockroyale shared the video of a street dog being captured paired with the caption "blud finally got caught by the bill collector." The post (shown below, left) amassed more than 6.6 million plays and 578,000 likes in six months. On October 24th, 2023, TikTok^[3] user @dlstlnkt used the video of a dog in a car being watched by another dog (shown below, right) paired with the caption "bill collector finally found blud," which amassed more than 839,000 plays and 128,000 likes in a month.
