On March 4th, 2020, Sanders' son Levi Sanders tweeted[1] the photograph with the caption "Watching and waiting for the results from various races throughout the country. #UsNotMe." The tweet received more than 27,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below).

Hours later, people began commenting on the chair. Twitter[2] user @keewa tweeted a picture of President Donald Trump's living room and compared it to Sanders'. They captioned the post, "A tale of two living rooms." The post received more than 147,000 likes and 19,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, left). Twitter[3] user @taragolshan shared the tweet and wrote, "@BernieSanders has a clothes chair." The post received more than 68,000 likes and 7,800 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, center). Twitter[4] user @thefouchoe tweeted, further proof that bernie is a man of the people – he has 'the chair.'"
