Bellingham Celebration, also known as Belligol, is a viral original sound on TikTok about English professional footballer / soccer player Jude Bellingham. The sound became a viral trend on TikTok around September 2023 after a user posted a fan edit video utilizing a Brazilian sports commentator's voice as he praised the athlete for scoring a goal. The viral video subsequently inspired a series of memes consisting of pairing videos and images of Brazilian anteaters doing an open-arms self-defense pose (similar to a T-pose), which mimics Bellingham's signature move after scoring a goal where he leans back slightly and stretches his arms out to the sides.

Origin

On September 2nd, 2023, TikTok^[1] user @njrdiniz uploaded a fan edit video of the Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham in which the Brazilian sports commentator Rogerio Vaughan, from ESPN Brazil, narrates the footballer's achievements and performance (shown below). The video amassed over 6 million plays, 1.3 million likes and 75,000 other videos using the sound for the Belligol meme in roughly two months.

The Brazilian sports commentator Rogerio Vaughan's audio comes from a September 2023 game between Real Madrid and Getafe. The moment was posted by ESPN Brazil's YouTube^[2] channel on September 2nd, 2023, showing Bellingham celebrating a goal minutes before the match ended, amassing more than 1 million views and 71,000 likes in a month (shown below).

Before TikToker @njrdiniz's viral video in September 2023, many Brazilians were already memeing Bellingham's goal celebration for its similarity to the native giant anteater's self-defense pose. For example, on September 4th, 2023, TikTok^[3] user @jotax7w uploaded a video comparing the midfielder with the Brazilian animal (shown below, left), which garnered roughly 182,000 plays and 7,000 likes in two months. Another meme, posted on September 9th by TikToker^[4] @myguel.skills7, made the same comparison (shown below, right), which garnered over 550,000 plays and 101,000 likes in two months.

On October 27th, Real Madrid's official TikTok^[5] account used @njrdiniz's viral sound to post a collection of images of Bellingham doing his signature goal celebration, which amassed over 27 million plays and 5 million likes in four days. The next day, the team's Portuguese X^[6] account also tweeted Rogerio Vaughan's audio (shown below), which garnered over 2,500 likes and 725 retweets in three days.

On October 28th, the Brazilian commentator who voiced the viral audio joined the Belligol trend in a video posted on TikTok^[7] by @espnbrasil. The video (shown below) garnered over 318,000 plays and 51,000 likes in three days.
