About

Being 30 in the '80s vs. Being 30 in 2024 is a comparison meme format that uses an exploitable image macro template to compare the appearance of a person who is 30 years old in the 1980s to someone who is 30 years old in 2024, depicting the '80s 30-year-old as more mature in appearance and the 2024 30-year-old as younger and clean-cut. The earliest example of the meme was posted to Facebook in March 2024, gaining viral spread over the following months and inspiring new variations comparing a variety of images. The memes have also inspired debates online over whether or not the idea that the meme supports, which is that men appeared older at a young age in the past, is true and why that might or might not be.
