About
Beetlejuice Lips is the name of a fashion trend in which Beauty influencers try to use lipstick and eye shadow to create a ringed color pattern similar to the main color theming present in the movie Beetlejuice. The trend, attempted with various colors and beauty materials, started to gain popularity while also causing controversy within the community for not working as well with people who have had lip fillers.
Origin
On September 5th, 2024, the TikToker and Fashion influencer _hello_adri uploaded a TikTok[1] of her applying the lipstick and eye shadow to create the effect, and showing off the results, earning herself over 4.9 million likes in 20 days and kickstarting the trend for others to copy (shown below).
Spread
While many beauty influencers attempted to do the trend, it started to be made aware that if an influencer had done lip filler work, the trend would not work as well. This is believed to be due to the lip fillers not allowing for the deep grooves required for the secondary color to set in. On September 8th, 2024, the beauty influencer Jeffree Star uploaded a TikTok[2] in which they attempted to do the trend, with commenters noting that it didn't work as well for him because of his lip fillers (shown below).
On September 12th, 2024, the beauty TikToker[3] itisabelbedoyaa uploaded their own take on the trend, which includes a tutorial on how to successfully do the trend, earning her over 130,000 likes in 15 days (shown below).
