On November 19th, 2025, Bobbi Althoff shared a video on TikTok^[1] (@bobbialthoff) of rapper Kevin Gates singing his 2022 song "Scars"^[2] a acapella. The opening lyric is, "Beefin' with my chick while I'm in jail." Gates is seen wearing an all black outfit, standing in a room with Althoff and cameramen. Over six days, the video received over 168,500 likes.

The clip was a promo for a longer video about Kevin Gates shared by Althoff on YouTube^[3] on that same day, titled "24 Hours on Tour with Kevin Gates."

On November 19th, 2025, TikToker^[4] @x.undergroundleaks reposted Althoff's video, gaining over 2.1 million likes in six days.

In the following days, the clip inspired video memes, like one early example shared by TikToker^[5] @godmademelo on November 20th, who did an Accuracy Reenactment of the clip, gaining over 5,500 likes in five days.

On November 22nd, 2025, TikToker^[6] @yuckap shared a video that compiled "every angle ever" of Beefin' With My Chick While I'm in Jail, using clips of Gates' live performances and from Althoff's full YouTube video. Over three days, the video received over 694,600 likes.

On November 23rd, TikToker^[7] @nunu.da.artist shared a lip dub meme, showing herself as a mother character singing Beefin' With My Chick While I'm in Jail to her infant child because "all I know is Kevin Gates." Over two days, the video received roughly 577,300 likes.
