Avengers: Doomsday Cast Announcement, also known as Avengers: Doomsday Casting Chair or Avengers: Doomsday Cast Parodies, refers to a series of jokes and an exploitable meme template created after the cast announcement for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debuted in late March 2025. In a multi-hour global livestream that lasted over five hours, Marvel revealed several of the film's cast by the appearance of a director’s chair in an empty building. The announcement sparked a debate on the exhausting and repetitious reveal format, leading to memes of unrelated actors and characters replacing the names of the actual cast in the phrasal template X Will Return In Avengers: Doomsday.

Origin

On March 26th, 2025, Marvel started a five-hour livestream to announce the beginning of Avengers: Doomsday’s production and part of the cast for the upcoming film. The video featured a looping footage of director's chairs, revealing the long list of actors in the project. The video amassed over 36 million views and 92,000 likes on X^[1] in a day. (seen below)

Shortly after the five-hour livestream finished, the X^[2] page @DiscussingFilm posted the full cast list for Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to be released on May 1st, 2026. The post (seen below) amassed more than 4 million views and 53,000 likes in a day.

The lengthy Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement immediately sparked several memes on social media, including Photoshop edits replacing the actors' names with others.

For example, X^[3] user @celestialdevils posted a montage on March 26th, 2025, adding the name of Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón in the director's chair (seen below), amassed over 992,500 views and 21,000 likes in a day.

The long list of actors in the Marvel film also inspired jokes about different characters being added in the Avengers: Doomsday cast.

For example, on March 26th, 2025, X^[4] user @nocontexthousem posted a picture of actor Hugh Laurie and the Doomsday movie logo, writing, "Hugh Laurie will return as House in ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY.’" The post (seen below) received roughly 578,000 views and 30,000 likes in a day.
