Audience Reaction to Spider-Man: No Way Home refers to a viral audio clip of a Sydney, Australia theater's ecstatic reaction to a climactic scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with the audience erupting in cheers and yelling "let's go." The reaction was posted to TikTok in December 2021 and the audio went viral in January 2022 as users applied it to less climactic and humorous scenes from other movies to make it seem like the audience is reacting to another scene.
Origin
On December 16th, 2021, TikToker[1] @nguysimon posted a video recording of a scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home, taken at the film's opening night in Sydney, Australia where Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man saves MJ from falling, inspiring excited cheers from the audience (shown below). The video gained over 2.7 million views in a month.
Spread
The video's original sound[2] saw increased use in January 2022 in a meme where TikTokers set climactic and humorous scenes from different movies or TV shows to the audio, as if the audience is ecstatically celebrating the scene that's shown. For example, on January 3rd, 2022, TikToker[3] @fnisce posted a clip from Sing 2 to the audio, gaining over 1.9 million views in 10 days (shown below).
On January 13th, TikToker[4] @xp_rexy posted a video setting the audio to a clip from Despicable Me 2 gaining over 1.7 million views in a day (shown below, left). On the same day, TikToker[5] @mrpupcup set the audio to the emotional climax of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, gaining over 1.4 million views in a comparable span of time (shown below, right).
