At First I Was Like "Mmm Feet" As A Joke, continued But bro … I Don't Think It's A Joke Anymore, refers to a series of image macros and a line spoken in a voiceover meme associated with an image of C.C. from the anime series Code Geass. The snowclone phrase "at first I was like 'mmm X'" became mildly popular in image macros in 2020. A voiceover reading the line became a viral sound on TikTok in early 2021, resulting in numerous lip-dub skits and videos.

Origin

On August 31st, 2019, Instagram^[8] user @downzyndrome posted, "Feet are kinda lit doe" and an image macro of C.C. from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, taken from Twitter^[1] user @ccreayus, with text reading, "At First I Was All like, "mmm, feet," as a joke. But bro.. I don't think it's a joke anymore" (authorship unconfirmed; shown below). The post gained over 1,600 likes in roughly two years.

The image was reposted a number of times to Instagram, and inspired a number of variations over the course of the year and early 2020, using the phrase "at first I was like 'mmm X'" as a snowclone, including a December 9th post by Twitter^[4] user @weeabob and a December 30th, post by Instagram^[5] user @jesuschristrebornonceagain (shown below, left and right).

Sometime prior to February 19th, 2020, Instagram user @cursed.voiceovers posted a video consisting of a voiced-over version of the meme. The original post has since been deleted but was reuploaded to YouTube on February 19th by YouTuber^[2] ketchup (shown below).

Spread

The post continued to inspire occasional new variants in 2020. For example, on May 6th Instagram^[6] meme page @_kingorange posted a version referencing LEGO, garnering over 980 likes in a year (shown below, left). On May 19th, Instagram^[7] user @cocaineape posted another version, garnering over 1,100 likes in a comparable span of time (shown below, right).

TikTok

On an unknown date in early April 2021, TikToker @aizawas_kitten69 posted a video including the voiceover from cursed.voiceovers' video. The video has since been deleted, but the sound for it went viral, inspiring over 300,000 videos on TikTok over the course of the month (most popular examples shown below).

The majority of TikTokers upload lip dub videos to the sound, sometimes using the phrase as a snowclone and presenting something they desire when "mmm feet" is said. For example, on February 22nd TikToker^[3] @megangstret posted a video showing the before and after of constructing an indoor pool, garnering over 4.7 million views in under a day (shown below).
