The meme originated on April 6th, 2025, when Hall posted a "2018 vs. 2025" video showing the differences in his lifestyle over the past seven years. The video was reposted to Twitter / X and TikTok, where people began green screening different games onto Ashton Hall's TV and recaptioning the video to humorous effect. On April 6th, 2025, Ashton Hall posted a video to his Instagram[1] account titled "2018 vs. 2025. First 4 hours will change everything ⏰." In the skit, Hall shows himself waking up late, losing his cool and falling behind on bills in 2018, then appearing cool, collected and motivated in 2025. The video gathered over 96 million views and 4.6 million likes in four days.
The video was reposted to Twitter / X[2] by @Dom_2k on April 6th, gathering over 12 million views and 87,000 likes in four days.

On April 6th, 2025, TikToker[5] @chaewonfanforever reposted the clip with the caption, "Unc it's just a game," alongside several dead rose emojis. The post gathered over 24 million views and 3 million likes in four days.
On April 7th, 2025, X[3] user @Murdoink reposted the video with the television screen green-screened out. The caption on the video read, "gamer rage green screen, perfect for fighting games," and the post gathered over 22,000 likes in three days.
Also on April 7th, X[4] user @Chib_ifi inserted a clip from a Budokai minigame showing a fight between Dragon Ball characters Goku and Raditz, gathering over 10,000 likes in three days.
On April 9th, X[6] user @ditzysAlt posted a version of the meme showing Ashton Hall playing Rhythm Heaven, gathering over 23,000 likes in a day.
