Arabian Drift Core

About

Arabian Drift Core, also known as Arab Drifting, Arab Drift Core or Saudi Drift, refers to a series of photoshop art based on drifting culture in Middle Eastern, Arab countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The images most often feature a car (usually a Honda) drifting with a woman's eyes layered overtop, seen wearing a hijab. The original Arabian Drift Core images were created by Emirati Flickr user Farfoor Albaloushi, also known as DeviantArt user Inamson1, in 2013 and 2014. In 2024, new Arabian Drift Core images went viral on TikTok, created by user u7wt.s (@cressida.cretu), including one with the character Jane from Breaking Bad. The images then went viral on Twitter / X.

Origin

Starting in 2013, DeviatArt^[1] user Inamson1 posted his first image, seemingly a self-portrait. On October 13th, 2012, Inamson1 posted two images to DeviantArt^[2][3] that showed female eyes overlayed above a car (shown below).

Going into 2012, 2013 and 2014, Inamson1 posted multiple photoshops of the same style that he labeled "Saudi Drift." He also posted the images to his Flickr^[4] account Farfoor Albaloushi throughout the timeframe (examples shown below).

Spread

Although Farfoor Albaloushi (aka Inamson1) seemingly created the visual style, Arabian Drift Core images didn't go largely viral until 2023, when TikToker^[5] @cressida.cretu posted a photo slideshow of new Arabian Drift Core images created by themself, receiving over 222,500 plays and 34,800 likes in nine months. Many included celebrities and pop culture icons like Lady Gaga (shown below, top left) and Jane from Breaking Bad (shown below, top right).

On November 25th, 2023, TikToker^[6] @cressida.cretu posted another photo slideshow with new Arabian Drift Core images, receiving over 1.3 million plays and 187,000 likes in five months (examples shown below).

On April 28th, 2024, X^[7] user @xe0_xeo tweeted four of TikToker @cressida.cretu's images, writing, "Images I found for a genre that was titled 'Arabian Drift Core,'" receiving over 36,000 likes in two days (shown below, left).

The tweet received over 36 million views akin to viral quotes, such as one shared by X^[8] user @chaos2x on April 28th, 2024, reading, "'Arabian drift core' and its jane from breaking bad," earning over 26,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).

On August 29th, 2024, X^[9] user @30FFobia shared an Arabian Drift Core video, earning over 200 likes in a day (shown below).
