About

Apple Guy Running is a series of memes, including video edits, based on a clip of Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi running toward the camera and pushing his hair back. The viral clips come from the June 2022 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference event, with several other clips of Federighi taken from various WWDC events also becoming the subject of memes. The clips were popularized in meme edits on TikTok in June 2024, often set to the song "Vibe" by Cookiee Kawaii. Previously, in 2020, Federighi became the subject of the Craig Macbook memes.

Origin

Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, often presents the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference livestreams in which new features and updates for Apple products are announced.

Federighi is known to do the occasional comedic transition between product announcements, including a gag in which he runs from one room to the next in an exaggerated way. For example, at the 1:29:42 mark of the 2022 WWDC conference, Federighi runs down a hallway in slow motion and pushes back his hair (shown below, left). During the 2024 WWDC event, around the 50:35 mark, he parkours down to another room (shown below, right).

In June 2024, clips of Federighi running started to become the subject of meme edits on TikTok, including thirst edits, with the clip from the 2022 WWDC event becoming the most prevalent.

On June 10th, 2024, TikToker[1] @daily_clips_f0r_y0u posted a clip of Federighi running from the 2024 conference, garnering over 2.3 million views in two weeks. This is the earliest known edit of the clips.
