Angry Grandpa's "You Are Mine" refers to a TikTok audio and meme using a clip of the YouTube character Angry Grandpa yelling “You are mine” repeatedly through a closed window. The TikTok trend first appeared in early September 2023 and spread through the beginning of 2024.

Origin

On October 12th, 2014, TheAngryGrandpaShow uploaded "THE WALKING DEAD PRANK" to YouTube,^[6] which earned 24,500,00 views and 30,000 comments in just under ten years. In the video (seen below), just after the nine-minute mark, character Angry Grandpa can be seen yelling "You are mine!" repeatedly through the window in retaliation for the prank.

The first known appearance of the clip as a meme was in a TikTok^[1] posted by @newyorknodt on September 4th, 2023, which was captioned "me talking to food in the microwave," and references the 2017 passing of Angry Grandpa. The TikTok, seen below, earned 3.6 million views 518,000 likes in about seven months.

Spread

The clip first started spreading shortly after it was first posted. For instance, on September 9, 2023, @cw_memes posted a TikTok^[2] using the clip with a different caption, which earned 12,400 likes and 241 likes in about six months (below, left). On September 10, 2023, @edging_lord64 posted a TikTok^[3] that also used the clip and audio, earning 34,600 views and 1,300 likes in six months (below, right).

The trend increased in prevalence on TikTok in the following months. On November 11th, 2023, TikToker @partypie3 posted a TikTok^[4] following the trend. The video (below, left) earned 2.4 million views and 534,000 likes in about four months. A later example was posted on TikTok^[5] on January 28th, 2024 by @flopcakkeafreak, which received 20,500 views and 520 likes in a month.
