Andrew Tate Has Been Banned From X refers to a series of memes parodying the slew of bans faced by controversial content creator Andrew Tate in August 2022. After being banned on Facebook and Instagram by Meta, as well as YouTube and TikTok, internet users began to tweet about his various "bans" on everything from BeReal to Club Penguin using the phrasal template "Andrew Tate has been banned from X."
Origin
On August 19th, 2022, Andrew Tate was banned from all of Meta's platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. This was quickly followed by a ban from YouTube and TikTok as well.
Following his highly publicized bans from multiple platforms, users on social media began posting parody versions of Tate being banned from all manner of games, apps and other things. On August 22nd, 2022, Twitter[1] user @helloryry posted one of the earliest examples with a tweet that read, "BREAKING: Andrew Tate has been banned from the Björk: Biophilia app." The tweet gathered over 7,000 likes and 500 retweets in one day (shown below).
Spread
The trend began to go viral in the following days, with multiple Twitter accounts making variations on the meme format. On August 22nd, 2022, Twitter[2] user @BoltUp22 posted a tweet that read, "BREAKING: Andrew Tate has been banned from the hit mobile game Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle!!!" The tweet gathered over 5,000 likes and over 400 retweets over the course of a day (seen below).
On August 23rd, Twitter[3] user @Hikaryyu posted a tweet with the caption, "Andrew Tate has been permanently banned from League of Legends." The tweet gathered 20,000 likes and over 1,000 retweets in less than a day (seen below).
