On February 24th, 2019, Redditor Witchfinder-General posted the original video to /r/wellthatsucks[1] which received 52,700 points (91% upvoted) and 800 comments in a day (shown below).

Thhe same day, Redditor lucky-number-kleven noted the potential of the format and posted a green screen template to /r/memeeconomy [2]. The post gained 40,100 points (89% upvoted) and 2,400 comments in a day (shown below).




The same redditor followed up with an example featuring a collapsing building and posted it to /r/funny [3]which garnered 22,000 points (92% upvoted) and 661 comments in a day (shown below).



Many more parodies were posted to Reddit that day and some were uploaded to YouTube. YouTuber mmm3ubed uploaded a version of the Spongebob segment of the Superbowl being interrupted (shown below). The video gained over 100 views on its first day.
