Alison Gold’s “Chinese Food” is a 2013 pop song tribute to the Chinese American cuisine produced by LA-based singer and songwriter Patrice Wilson, who has produced other cringe-pop singles like Rebecca Black's "Friday" and Nicole Westbrook's "Thanksgiving".

Origin

On October 14th, 2013, YouTuber patomuzic uploaded the music video for the song "Chinese Food" (shown below), in which a teenage girl sings about her appreciation for the Asian cuisine while eating at a restaurant and frolicking with a man in a panda suit. In the first 48 hours, the video received more than 5.33 million views, 64,000 down votes and 41,000 comments.

On the same day, Redditor test0 submitted the video to the /r/crappymusic[1] subreddit, where it gained over 170 up votes and 70 comments in the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, the video was highlighted on several news and Internet humor sites, including BuzzFeed,[4] The Huffington Post,[5] E Online[3] and Death and Taxes Mag.[2] Also on October 14th, 2013, the @AlisonGoldmusic Twitter account was launched and YouTuber Jay Fluent uploaded a review of the music video (shown below, left). On October 15th, The Daily Beast[7] published an article criticizing the song's lyrics for being racially insensitive. The same day, YouTuber BrocksDubs posted a dubbed parody version of the video (shown below, right).

Also on October 15th, YouTuber David So uploaded a video accusing Wilson of being perverted (shown below, left) and YouTuber FungBrosComedy posted a video defending Wilson for being a troll (shown below, right).

In the coming days, several remixes of the song were uploaded to the music-sharing site Soundcloud.[6]
