About
Ain't No Way God Told Noah To Put Two Stink Bugs On The Ark is a caption attached to a drawing of Noah from the Biblical Noah's Ark story in a Whisper-post joking that even though God told Noah to put two of every single animal on the boat, stink bugs are so insignificant he couldn't have meant it. The phrase was posted to Facebook in late 2019 and converted into an image macro in early 2021, inspiring variations over the course of the year where the text was altered via caption changing.
Origin
A version of the phrase first appeared on Twitter on September 2nd, 2019, when Twitter[5] user @4ever_inholden posted "Ain't no way god told Noah to put two mosquitos on that boat!!!!" but it did not gain significant traction. On October 5th, 2019, Facebook[1] user Waiting For Your Boaz made a text post reading "Ain't no 🙅♀️ way God told Noah to put 2 stink bugs on that boat 🗣" gaining over 2,000 reactions in two years (shown below). The next day, Facebook[2] page ManShed made a text post reading the same thing, gaining over 9,800 reactions and 12,000 shares in the same period of time.
On January 29th, 2021, an image macro consisting of the phrase attached to artwork of Noah ushering the animals onto the ark was uploaded to iFunny[3] by Dolan and Instagram[4] by meme page new.incognito.tab, gaining over 70 smiles on the former and 12,100 on the latter in 11 months (shown below). It is unclear who created the meme and both may be reposts. The source of the artwork is currently unknown.
Spread
The image macro was reposted numerous times on social media, gaining viral spread. For example, it was posted to Instagram[6][7] by scoobydoofruitsnacks and salad.snake on February 1st, 2021, gaining over 81,000 likes on the former and 58,000 on the latter in 10 months. On July 25th, Instagram[8] page planty_hoes posted a version of the meme replacing "stink bugs" with "mealy worms," gaining over 10,000 likes in five months (shown below).
On November 25th, 2021, Instagram[9] page frogseatingass posted a version doubting that God would allow BMW drivers on the ark, gaining over 23,000 likes in just over a week (shown below). The image was reposted by Instagram[10] page trashcanpaul on December 5th, gaining over 52,600 likes in a day.
