AI Joe Rogan Experience Parodies are a genre of artificial intelligence voice-over videos that depict Joe Rogan and guests on his podcasts having fictional dialogue produced using tools like ElevenAI or Fifteen.ai. Such videos typically feature AI-generated voices of Rogan and guests like Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro reading a user-generated script over still photos of the men in the setting of Rogan's podcast (JRE), often referencing memes, copypastas and other humorous or nonsensical discussions. The videos emerged in early 2023 and share many similarities to memes such as AI Presidents Gaming.

Origin

Early 2023 saw the development of several AI programs that could imitate human voices, including ElevenAI. The use of 11.ai in memes picked up in January 2023 when a new update came out.^[1] Users started making AI Presidents Gaming memes using the voices of political figures and conservative male influencers like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro and Joe Rogan.

Following this, the format of AI-generating the voices of Rogan and others having a conversation in the setting of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, became prominent. While Rogan and Shapiro had been featured in other AI-generated voice memes, putting the two together alone was done (seen below) on February 13th, 2023, by Twitter user @TallBart,^[2] who received over 8,100 likes for his video in roughly two weeks.

The format then went viral in the following days when Twitter user @zachsilberberg tweeted a video on February 17th, 2023, that earned over 193,000 likes in four days about Rogan wanting to get "ratatouilled."^[3] The video (seen below) was cross-posted to TikTok and other platforms, where it also went viral.^[4]

Twitter user @zachsilberberg continued to make more memes featuring Rogan and Shapiro, but others joined in as well. Overall, the response to the memes online was largely positive, with many requesting more be made or reposting them to other platforms. For example, Twitter user @VodkaSlyme responded positively to the parodies, earning 30 likes on February 17th.^[5] User @RinRinYikes also noted that they enjoyed the content, tweeting enthusiastically about the meme and earning 80 likes on February 19th.^[6]

Twitter user TallBart also created an AI voice video of Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson arguing on February 19th, 2023, which earned almost 34,000 likes in three days (seen below).^[7]
