AI Drake Posting refers to a social media trend of posting AI-generated images of rapper Drake in bizarre places and situations. The meme format achieved popularity on social media following the public release of Bing Image Creator as the tool demonstrated unusually capability at generating images of the rapper.

Origin

On September 29th, 2023, Microsoft added DALL-E 3 functionality to its Bing Image Creator image generation tool.

On that day, X / Twitter [1] user @ByYourLogic posted an AI-generated image parodying a poster for the war drama film Saving Private Ryan with rapper Drake as the main character, commenting, "alright the Microsoft AI image generator has merit." The post received over 400 reposts and 9,000 likes in one week (image and post shown below, left and right).



Spread

Starting on September 30th, @ByYourLogic and other users posted AI-generated images of the rapper in various bizarre places and situations. For example, on that day, X[2] user @h0mmelette posted an AI-generated image of Drake stopping bullets in The Matrix, with the post garnering over 30 reposts and 510 likes in one week (shown below, left). Later that day, user @RaceplayShawty posted[3] an image which merged the Drake and Jeffrey Epstein into a single person, with the post garnering over 180 reposts and 3,100 likes in the same period (shown below, right).



On October 4th, 2023, YouTuber Justin Whang posted a screenshot of Bing Image Creator declining a request to generated a cartoon with Jackie Chan in it,[4] with another X user replying that using nicknames such as "Tay Swift" instead of "Taylor Swift" allowed to circumvent the limitation,[5] and user @arsenolofheroin[6] posting an AI-generated image of Drake and saying that the rapper was the only person "allowed to be AI clowned on" (post shown below, left). Whang proceed to post[7] multiple AI-generated images of Drake, with several of them going viral (example shown below, right).
