Ah! Guilty Gear refers to parodies of a Japanese commercial for the video game Guilty Gear Strive that features a group of women excitedly playing the game. The video spread on Twitter and YouTube using it as people replaced the Guilty Gear footage from the commercial with other Guilty Gear games or other fighting games.
Origin
On May 7th 2021, a commercial released for ArcSystemWorks' next game, Guilty Gear Strive, set to come out on June 11th, 2021.[1] The commercial begins by showing a Japanese girl starting to play Guilty Gear Strive when a group of women see her playing and say, "Ah! Guilty Gear!"
Spread
On May 8th, 2021, several users began posting parodies of the commercial. YouTuber Beatnik刃 posted the first parody of the commercial, gaining over 43,000 views (shown below).
The parodies grew more popular on Twitter after users @HiFightTH posted a parody the same day, gaining over 1,600 retweets 51,000 likes (shown below, top). On May 10th, user @LeonMassive posted a parody that gained over 170 retweets and 800 likes (shown below, bottom).
