On March 19th, 2024, TikToker^[1] @cupimon posted an animation meme set to the song "Again & Again" by The Bird and the Bee, garnering over 350,000 views in three months (shown below). The animation references the video game Identity V and features a distinct, red-over-black style that displays portions of the song's lyrics along with drawings referencing the game. This is the earliest apparent animation meme set to the song.

Further animation memes using the song and, often, a similar red-over-black style, were popularized in May 2024. On May 25th, 2024, TikToker^[2] @j.moon11 posted a Zelda-inspired animation based on the song, garnering over 500,000 views in two weeks (shown below, left). On June 3rd, TikToker^[3] @gooeymonster posted a version of the meme referencing Genshin Impact, garnering over 415,000 views in a week (shown below, right).

On June 5th, TikToker^[4] @onyxplate posted an animation meme using the song that gained over 1.5 million views in five days. On June 9th, X^[5] user @fruiteasart posted a version of the meme based on the game Life is Strange, garnering over 340 likes in a day (shown below).
