Admiral Jeff Blue-Jeans is a nickname given to a person wearing blue jeans and a green t-shirt who unintentionally appears in the background of The Mandalorian episode. Following the viral spread of a screencap highlighting the mistake, the person in the frame became the subjects of jokes and memes.

Origin

On November 20th, 2020, episode four "Chapter 12: The Siege" of season two of the television series The Mandalorian premiered.[1] At the 18:54 mark in the episode, a person wearing blue jeans, a green t-shirt and a watch can be briefly seen in the background, standing behind Greef Karga. On the same day, Twitter[2] user @2TheFutureBR first pointed out the blunder, with the tweet gaining over 420 retweets and 6,500 likes in four days (image and tweet shown below).

Spread

Following the spread of the tweet, multiple users on Twitter posted memes and jokes about the mistake. On November 20th, 2020, Twitter[3] user @AwesomEmergency posted a Same Energy tweet comparing the blunder to a mistake made in the episode "The Last of the Starks" of the Game of Thrones series (shown below, left). The tweet received over 220 retweets and 2,300 likes. On November 21st, Twitter[4] user @bryaneward posted a meme that imagined the "jeans guy" as a collectible toy and garnered over 860 retweets and 6,000 likes (shown below, right).



On November 21st, 2020, Facebook[5] user Troy Wullbrandt posted a meme which contained a mock-up of a Wookiepedia page named "Admiral Jeff Blue-Jeans." The post received over 2,400 likes and 530 shares in Start Wars Sithposting: Special Edition Facebook group (shown below).



In the following days, multiple memes about the mistake were posted in the group and on Twitter. Additionally, a cutout of the "jeans guy" saw use as an exploitable.
