Ace Combat JPEG Dog, also known as JPEG Dog or JPG Dog, refers to an exploitable image of a golden retriever in a cutscene from the 2019 arcade flight simulator video game Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. The image became popular with fans due to the dog in question being a static 2D image despite being in a 3D rendered cutscene, prompting photoshop images.

Origin

On January 18th, 2019, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown was released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Before the 6th mission of the game, the character Dr. Schroeder narrates the arrival of Princess Rosa Cosette D'Elise alongside her pet golden retriever who are visiting his facility.

Players began to notice that the dog who appears in the cutscene is not a 3D model, instead being a 2D static image.

On January 18th, AngriestPat^[1] live streamed to Twitch while playing Ace Combat 7 (shown below). AngriestPat's reaction to the JPEG Dog was clipped by caldergaming and has received 508,152 views in five days.

That day, the game's publisher, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Nordic,^[3] tweeted, "Looks like @AngriestPat's Twitch chat really loves the dog in Ace Combat 7!" The Tweet gained 906 retweets and 2,942 likes (shown below).

On January 21st, The game's writer, James Galizio^[2] translated Ace Combat's brand director, Kazutoki Kono's Tweet that explains that the dog belonged to one of the developers on the game, but is sadly no longer with us. The Tweet gained 113 retweets and 179 likes (shown below).
