"A Thousand Miles" is a 2002 pop song written and recorded by American recording artist Vanessa Carlton. Since release, the song has been featured in numerous films, television shows and memes.

Origin

On February 12th, 2002, Vanessa Carlton released her debut single "A Thousand Miles" in the United States.[1] The song, later featured on her debut studio album Be Not Nobody, was a critical and commercial success, reaching the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving three Grammy nominations. On June 16th, 2009, the music video for the song was uploaded to Vanessa Carlton's YouTube account, where it received more than 252 million views in about 11 years (shown below).

Two years after the song's release, on June 23rd, 2004, the Wayans' brothers prominently featured the song in the film White Chicks, in which actors Terry Crews and the Wayans brothers sing the hit.[2] On July 22nd, 2008, YouTuber mikes92089 uploaded a clip of the Wayans singing the song, receiving more than 1.4 million views in less than 12 years (shown below, left). On February 6th, 2013, YouTuber zhroomdotcom uploaded the scene. The post received more than 6.6 million views in less than eight years (shown below, right).


On January 22nd, 2016, YouTuber TwinkieMan published a series of Vine remixes of the song. The post received more than 3.1 million views in less than five years (shown below).
