A Dubious Little Creature Getting Up To Mischief continued The Beast Is Demonic In Nature, refers to a TikTok sound and lip-dub trend started in September 2021. The sound is primarily used by TikTokers to showcase their pets, as well as other, more ironic examples like themselves or their friends, among other things.
Origin
On September 6th, 2021, TikToker @bubbyclub uploaded a duet with a TikTok posted by @royal_persian_kittens[1] on September 4th, 2021, which, on its own, received roughly 52,000 plays and 8,000 likes over the course of two weeks. @bubbyclub’s duet[2] (shown below) received roughly 1.4 million plays and 298,000 likes over the course of two weeks.
On the same day as @bubbyclub's original TikTok, @bubbyclub responded to a comment requesting him to make the duet its own sound in a separate video. @bubbyclub then reuploaded the duet as its own TikTok later that day. This second TikTok[3] (shown below) received roughly 532,000 plays and 92,000 likes over the course of two weeks and became the sound used by TikTokers in the trend going forward.
Spread
On September 6th, 2021, TikToker @alaskan_commie2.0 uploaded the first known use of the sound, using it to showcase themself and their outfit for the day. The TikTok[4] (shown below, left) received roughly 6,200 plays and 820 likes over the course of two weeks. Another TikToker, @recyclablefarts, also used the sound on September 6th, showcasing in their video the Pizza Rat Man in New York City's Washington Square Park. Their TikTok[5] (shown below, right) received roughly 1,900 plays and 200 likes over the course of two weeks.
More TikTokers began to hop on the trend in the coming days. For instance, verified TikToker @waltdisneysbum used the sound in a TikTok uploaded on September 8th, 2021. His TikTok[6] (shown below, left) showcased Drake doing the "Loverboy Dance" as the implied "dubious creature" and received roughly 82,000 plays and 16,600 likes over the course of two weeks. Another TikToker, @commanding_presents, also uploaded a clip using the sound on September 8th that received roughly 19,000 and 2,100 likes. Their TikTok[7] (shown below, right) showcased a Yu-Gi-Oh! card as the implied "dubious creature."
More and more TikTokers began using the sound going into the remainder of September 2021, showcasing their pets, outfits and friends, among other things. As of September 21st, 2021, the sound has roughly 2,700 videos on TikTok.[8]
