38.4 is a nonsensical copypasta used in ironic posts and comments, particularly on Instagram. The copypasta was forced by influential Snapchat and Instagram account Xo Trayvon Vert and several large Instagram meme accounts, and gained notable spread in late March 2020, similar to the April 2019 Egg Plural force.
Origin
On March 22nd, 2020, influential Snapchat[1] and Instagram user Xo Trayvon Vert (@xo) posted a snap based on a previous photoshop[2] of rapper Trippie Redd, captioned "38.4." On the same day, the snap was reposted by Instagram[3] meme account nba2ktapstar, gaining over 9,200 likes in five days (shown below).
Spread
In the following days, the "38.4" copypasta was repeadedly reused in Snapchat posts by Xo Trayvon Vert (examples shown below).[1]
The caption subsequently gained notable spread on Instagram, with notable reposts and original posts by lolhylian,[4] nba2ktrapstar,[5] xo_pods[6] and other users made in the following days.
