On June 15th, 2025, British TikToker^[1] @lilzbullzofficial posted a video holding up a shiny, gold-encrusted Labubu toy, announcing, "I have the one and only 24-karat gold Labubu," pronouncing the name of the collectible toy as "La Bew Bew."

The post gathered over 15 million views and 1.5 million likes in two weeks.

The TikToker^[2] continued to post videos about the 24-karat gold Labubu, gathering over 6 million views and 700,000 likes on a June 27th, 2025, post where she claimed to prove that her toy was indeed made out of gold by using a gold testing machine. Several internet users noted that the "machine" resembled a screwdriver, and the tester alarm resembled a Grindr notification.
