2024 Ins and Outs is a trend where users share personal "ins and outs" lists about what they hope to start and stop doing in 2024. The trend was popularized on TikTok in December 2023 and carried on into January 2024, resulting in media coverage and some parodies of the trend.

Origin

It is unclear who started the "ins and outs" trend. One of the earliest examples was posted by TikToker^[1] @vvicecilia on December 17th, 2023, in which she shares several things she wishes to start doing in 2024 and several things she wishes to stop doing, garnering over 267,000 views in a month (shown below).

Spread

The trend became increasingly popular on TikTok throughout December 2023, inspiring numerous examples. On December 28th, 2023, TikToker^[2] @taylorhannagan posted an ins and outs list that gained over 335,000 views in three weeks (shown below, left). On December 31st, TikToker^[3] @spencer.barbosa posted a video following the trend that gained over 850,000 views in the same span of time (shown below, right).

On January 3rd, the New York Times^[4] published a report on the trend. On January 5th, content creator Kurtis Conner posted a video on TikTok^[5] parodying the trend, garnering over 400,000 views in two weeks (shown below).
