About
The 2023 Colorado Bigfoot Sighting refers to a viral video and subsequent viral debate that a couple riding on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in southwest Colorado captured modern-day footage of a bigfoot or sasquatch-like creature on a mountainside. The clip, much like previously supposed footage of the cryptid bigfoot, resulted in a significant amount of discussions online, particularly due to its low resolution.
Origin
On October 11th, 2023, the X account @DailyLoud[1] uploaded footage that it claimed came from a Colorado couple showing what they believed to be a sasquatch walking down the slope of a mountainside. After a few steps, it stops and stoops down in a squat behind some bushes or shrubs, not moving for the rest of the clip. The viral video quickly caused a stir online, gaining over 18 million views in nine hours (shown below).
Spread
Many other users online were quick to notice certain things about the video as it spread in mid-October 2023. For example, on October 11th, 2023, X user @Kirawontmiss[2] summed up a prevalent opinion in relation to the footage with his QRT, simply stating that he would make sure to take a high-resolution picture of it, earning over 7.7 million views in 10 hours (shown below).
As a reply to the original post, X user @59SouthLee[3] uploaded footage of the previously thought to be real bigfoot footage (called the Patterson Film) and the current footage, claiming that it shows that the bigfoot in both instances has the same walking stride.
This further increased the speculation, with many claiming that it just means it's a tall person in a suit for both instances, while others claimed that whoever is faking it this time used the Patterson Film to try and legitimize it (shown below).
Community Notes
On October 11th, 2023, after the X account for Keemstar's news show @DramaAlert[4] posted the footage claiming it to be verified as true, an X Community Notes post was quick to correct it. In the correction, they link to an article[5] that claims the couple who brought forward this footage has a history of bringing suspicious footage up in the past, casting doubt into the origins and authenticity of this video (shown below).
