100,000 Wasps Giveaway is a viral parody tweet announcing a giveaway of 100,000 wasps to a random person who likes and retweets it. Originally posted on Twitter in 2021, in 2022 the tweet has been used and referenced in memes online, primarily by the Anything Bot gimmick account.

Origin

On July 2nd, 2021, Twitter[1] user @wapplehouse posted a parody tweet announcing a giveaway of 100,000 wasps, delivered right to the winner's home, entered by liking and retweeting the post. The tweet gained over 16,900 retweets and 62,200 likes in one year (shown below).

The image of the large hornet nest used in the tweet comes from a 2018 article[2] about a hornet nest being removed from a Chevrolet El Camino, provided by a bee-removal service The Bee Man.

Spread

On September 15th, 2022, Twitter[3] user @DRAXOMOSPHERE copied the viral tweet, with the post gaining over 8,300 retweets and 27,400 likes in four months.

On September 25th, 2022, iFunny[4] user Albebo posted a screenshot of the tweet, with the post gaining over 2,400 smiles in three months.

Starting in October 2022, the image appeared in automatically generated tweets by the Twitter gimmick account Anything Bot, with several posts going viral. For example, on October 24th, 2022, @anythingbot posted a meme referencing the One Piece Is Real format that gained over 150 retweets and 2,800 likes in three months (shown below, left). On November 8th, the account posted a meme that gained over 410 retweets and 5,100 likes in two months (shown below, right).
