Twitter Is Having Far Too Much Fun With The Movie Reviews For 'Cats'
The time has finally arrived for the much-talked-about Cats film to be released in theatres. After countless critics were invited to the premiere of the film in London this week, their reviews finally made their rounds on the internet, and Twitter had a field day.
For some, they left the theatres with a massive headache.
I’ll have a detailed analysis on Thursday but here’s my capsule review of #catsmovie:Imagine doing this constantly for two hours: pic.twitter.com/2KU1ERfTuV

It's ugly and your brain will feel eaten.
Glad to report that Cats is everything you’d hoped for and more: a mesmerisingly ugly fiasco that makes you feel like your brain is being eaten by a parasite. A viewing experience so stressful that it honestly brought on a migraine.

Some were quickly asking for their memories to be erased.
CATS IS THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE SEEN THIS YEAR, A TRULY AWFUL AND UGLY FILM THAT I WISH I COULD ERASE FROM MY BRAIN

"Welp" was the only thing tweeted.
a review of #cats in 2 beautiful tweets. pic.twitter.com/UaMSt5ZkSP

However, others did like it, despite seeing animals devour a corpose on screen.
Uh, #Cats is kinda great? Everything that seemed weird in the trailers just melts away when you’re watching the film. It’s magical and just plain works with the sole exception of Taylor Swift’s original song about the cats devouring the corpse of an old woman who died in her flat

Some critics even argued that Taylor Swift was the best part of the movie.
The only thing I'm going to say about #Cats is that Taylor Swift's brief part is the best part of the whole movie. She's British, sassy, slinky and dynamic and her musical number is entertaining. The end. pic.twitter.com/xav62vuSah

Either way, the Rotten Tomato reviews were enough to entertain the masses for eternity.
This is the best review of anything I've ever read #cats pic.twitter.com/NbYgXO3gcB

It's truly fun for the entire family!
Even the “fresh” reviews brought a little something extra. #CatsTheMovie pic.twitter.com/RMD444hVyX

Some users were quick to remind others how weird the musical was.
I read a review of #CatsTheMovie that said it was "a mesmerisingly ugly fiasco that makes you feel like your brain is being eaten by a parasite."I'm shocked. Who could've predicted such an outcome from adapting THIS glorious Broadway show?? pic.twitter.com/Wi8Fkixjo8

People are seriously surprised that Cats is a weird, terrible movie. It's fucking CATS.#CatsTheMovie

At least the memes were 100% approved by Rotten Tomatoes.
Of course this was going to happen #CatsTheMovie pic.twitter.com/aOHibsgTRc

Perhaps it's not too late to CGI Nicolas Cage into the film?
Sorry, but watching the trailer for #CatsTheMovie just reminds me of certain memes.. pic.twitter.com/E3QpnoSCIV

It's the worst thing to happen to cats…since dogs!

If anything, the negative reviews just made users want to see the film more.
Somehow #CatsTheMovie being universally panned by critics is just making me want to see it more pic.twitter.com/djnQvlP856

The reviews tried very hard to match the bizarre nature of the film and honestly, they did a great job. We look forward to more of them as the film officially releases this weekend.

This movie will kill the furry fandom.

Personally I'm glad they went with a live-action adaptation since more people are familiar with the stage play. That way the could spend all the time trying too hard to top it and fail horribly and let the internet tear it a new one. This would then lead me to the question "How different would it have been if they made an animated version?" then just as I was thinking about it, any idea of an animated version was hit with the Japanizing Beam. So, anybody wanna pitch the idea of adapting Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats into a feature-length animated film (or series)? Can't get any worse than this.

I know I'm probably alone in this but personally I think the CG looks fine. That's pretty much exactly what I would expect a 'realistic catgirl' to look like.

"…with the sole exception of Taylor Swift’s original song about the cats devouring the corpse of an old woman who died in her flat"
"then Rebel Wilson unzipped herself and stepped out of her fursuit and proceeded to consume hundreds of tiny human/cockroach composites she trained to dance for her amusement."
I'm sorry,but

I urge everyone to exercise patience and wait for this to be available on cheaper dvds or streaming services. Do not encourage bad film-making, ESPECIALLY ironically. If it succeeds for doing so bad they'll make the next one INTENTIONALLY bad.
There's nothing worse than an intentionally bad ironic film.

i know i posted this in the star wars comment section yesterday, but it works here too:

and before anyone replies saying i should have used the "and nothing of value was lost" clip, i forgot it existed until just now

Given it was in reference to a burning parade float crashing into a theatre presenting Cats, it's perfect!
